Official OS 5 Coming Soon

Blackberry News: OS 5 official akan segera di release mudah mudahan minggu depan.

There is only 1 week left until RIM promised us that OS 5.0 would be available. It would be great if its still coming but with only a week left you have to wonder if they can do it. Also, given this is the holidays, they are surely short staffed.

According to the official word that Kevin got from RIM:

The roll out process has begun for BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 with the recent beta release of BlackBerry JDE 5.0 (BlackBerry Java Development Environment 5.0) to BlackBerry Developer Zone at www.blackberry.com/developers to prepare the BlackBerry developer community for pending device software releases. As can be expected, BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 will follow before the end of the year, as referenced in the RIM Launches BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0? press release that was issued at WES 2009.

The official statement doesnt tell us what devices will receive OS 5, but rather vaguely states that it will be available. One would have to assume that this would include the 9000, and the 83xx series at the very least.

ISkoot – Skype VOIP and Chat Software

Gunakan ISkoot untuk fungsi chatting lewat Skype dengan wifi connection. Applikasi ini masih Beta. Untuk sementara ini jangan menggunakan untuk voip calls karena akan kena charge biaya long distance.

ISkoot is freeware that enables you to use Skype on your mobile phones and now the Blackberry.

The software is still in BETA. ISkoot has an agreement with Skype to use their network. Now you can use your Skype account to make calls and send instant messages.

ISkoot uses your voice plan to connect to their server when you make and receive Skype calls so be careful if your not in North America , you might get long distance charges. Although Iskoot is still working on trying to improve their software the chat function works great and helps me get in touch with everyone in my office.

Facebook Notifications Error

FaceBook di Blackberry anda Tidak ada Notifications? Facebook Sering Error?

Berikut adalah Cara agar aplikasi Facebook (FB) pada BlackBerry (BB) yang kita gunakan dapat menerima notifikasi ataupun memperbaiki error error pada facebook blackberry yang aneh aneh seperti foto profile error dan sebagainya.

STEP I
Pada handheld BlackBerry Anda

Pastikan FB apps for BB sudah diinstall di BB anda, biasanya apps ini ter-install OTA otomatis sewaktu kita mengaktifkan BIS pertama kali. Untuk lebih yakin, atau mau menginstall versi terbaru lakukan reinstall/clean install, delete dulu aplikasi FB lama anda:

1. Go to: Options > Advanced Options > Applications > Cari Facebook (atau ketik “F”) > Menu > Delete
2. Biar lebih yakin, lakukan soft reset / restart – caranya : copot battery sewaktu BB masih on . tunggu 30 detik > pasang battery kembali
3. Open Web Browser, go to : m.facebook.com – scrolling down & cari link download. Ikuti terus petunjuk instalasi FB apps for BB. Juga bisa di instal lewat Blackberry AppWorld atau http://www.blackberry.com/facebook
4. FB apps versi terbaru, seharusnya sudah terinstall di BB anda

Pastikan Settings Facebook anda sudah benar, Caranya:

1. Buka aplikasi Facebook
2. Klik menu BB
3. Pilih “Options”
4. dan checklist semua opsi yang anda inginkan

Anda juga bisa coba check updates aplikasi Facebook Blackberry anda, Caranya:

1. Di menu options tadi
2. scroll ke paling bawah dan klik “Check Updates”

STEP II
Website BlackBerry Internet Service Provider

Lakukan kustomisasi email account mana saja yang hendak di-“push” ke BB anda melalui PC, caranya :

1. Go to indosat.blackberry.com or xl.blackberry.com or telkomsel.blackberry.com
2. Login ke account anda
3. PASTIKAN email address yang anda register di account Facebook anda cantumkan dalam daftar email account yg hendak anda push ke BB anda.
4. PASTIKAN juga user name & password email anda tersebut sudah benar
5. JANGAN LUPA untuk “Save Changes”
6. Log out

STEP III
Account Facebook Anda Lewat DESKTOP

1. Log in ke account FB anda lewat desktop PC / Mac (BUKAN lewat Blackberry)
2. Go to Settings > Account Settings > Notifications. Klik “see more” untuk melihat semua list
3. Di Tab Notifications ini adalah untuk mengatur notification update apa saja yg kita hendak terima. FB mengirimkan notification melalui email yang di-register di FB (Settings > Account Settings > Settings > Contact Email) – karena itu contact email yg di register di FB harus di-register di account BIS kita di Step II
4. Pilih notification / update apa saja yang hendak Anda terima dari FB
5. Save Changes

Seharusnya FB apps for BB Anda sekarang sudah bisa menerima update dari BB.
Bila tidak bisa terima, kemungkinanya :

1. Mailbox server dari email akun yang diregister di FB itu penuh. Disarankan jangan menggunakan email kantor yg memiliki kuota terbatas. Gunakan Gmail, Yahoo, etc
2. BB anda run out memory. Lakukan maintenance dengan cara :

* * Clean memory setiap hari
* * Delete email2 yg tidak penting lagi
* * Clean history, cache & temp file Browser Anda
* * Lakukan soft reset setiap pagi
* * Jaringan Internet sedang down atau peak (biasanya di jam2 happy hour)
* * Mail server down or too busy
